Happy 26th Birthday Terminator 2: Judgment Day!

In celebration of the 26th anniversary of one of the greatest science fiction films ever made, we have a couple goodies for you today. First of all, above we have one of the official trailers. However, we also have something a little bit more interesting: a blog post by Andy W. Taylor about Sarah Connor and the strong female character. I love the analysis here, making an argument for Sarah as a strong female lead not only in the second Terminator movie but also the first. It also mentions in passing James Cameron's track record of writing compelling, complex, badass female lead characters, which is excellent. In addition to Connor, Ripley in the Alien movies is the most salient example but the self-sacrificing Lindsey Brigman in The Abyss deserves some credit as well and even Rose Dewitt Bukater in Titanic is woefully underrated as far as badass female lead characters go, breaking out of the bondage of her abusive patriarchal engagement of convenience, literally spitting in the face of her oppressive abuser, and saving herself (with a little help from Leo). But I digress.

If you've never seen Terminator 2: Judgment Day, it is an absolute must-see piece of American cinema and what the hell have you been waiting 26 years for GO GO GO!

If you've seen it once or twice or a few times, you know just how supremely rewatchable it is and today is a perfect excuse to do just that.

If you've seen it like...several dozen (or upwards of a hundred) times like me...well...you probably know better than anyone that you can never watch this movie enough times.

Whatever your reasons, today is a perfect day to pop this old favorite in and enjoy. Show it to a friend! Show it to ten friends! Spread the love!
