VundaHalloweenathon Day 22: Black Horror

#VundaHalloweenathon Day 22: "Black Horror"

In defining today's theme we turn to a description outlined on the website for Horror Noire Executive Producer Tananarive Due and author/screenwriter Steven Barnes's six-part online course, "The Sunken Place: Black Horror" (based on Due's UCLA class "The Sunken Place: Racism, Survival, and the Black Horror Aesthetic"): “We define 'Black Horror' as Horror by Black creators and/or featuring a Black protagonist(s) in service to a story through a Black lens. Black creators may (though not always) tackle themes of social justice, ritual and magic, ancestors, and Black survival in their work. But all Black Horror combats the erasure of Black voices in Horror.” Check out our TikTok all month long.
